Tips for Measuring Your Small Dog

• Your most accurate measurements will be with a thin, flexible fabric or plastic tape that is used for sewing.
• When measuring, make sure your tape measure is pulled flat against your pet but NOT tight.  If you want the shirt loose, add a little slack!!!
• Remember to allow for your dog's coat.....a shaved dog is much skinnier than a long haired dog.

Of course, Murphy's Law, we never have what we need to measure appropriately.  Last time I went looking for a tape measure I found a free plastic ruler from a trade show and my husband's metal tape measure.....neither is good for actually measuring a dog, but they can be useful!  Here is a tip on what to do in this situation.

• Find an old shoe lace, string, dental floss, cord, earbud cord, yarn, your dog's leash or tie out and use those to measure your pet.   Just measure with one of these items and compare the length to your ruler, yard stick or metal tape measure to get a measurements.
